The Slade family have been using Sussex genetics for commercial breeding since 1972 when Sussex were found to be the top performers for feed conversion in a Meat and Livestock (UK) trial. Sussex cattle have an excellent temperament and are quiet and easy to work even without regular handling. Glenridge Park Sussex also perform well through the feedlot with ideal fat coverage, good carcase conformation, mostly B muscle scores and a conversion ratio around 5.4 : 1.

Another feature of the breed is their ability to do well in tough conditions with clients commenting on how well the Sussex hold their condition over summer. Sussex cows are a medium framed breed that finish with a shiny, deep red, smooth coat, making them very popular with buyers. Sussex cattle have proven to be a highly productive and profitable breed at Glenridge Park.
